moreFor this new episode of "The Extraordinary Garden," Tanguy proposes to take us on a journey of over 9,000 km across the Atlantic Ocean to Central America, to the land of the Maya. We're heading to Guatemala on the trail of the country's iconic feline, the jaguar. Guatemala is a land of incredible biodiversity. Several thousand species, both animal and plant, call it home. Majestic frigatebirds can stay in flight for over a week; an astonishing singing green frog is an excellent indicator of environmental quality; the shy spider monkeys are nut lovers; the dazzling male trogon possesses plumage with colors that change depending on the light. In Guatemalan forests, life thrives at every level. Within an anthill, ants cultivate... mushrooms!! At the top of the tall trees live the howler monkeys with their powerful cry. Their call can be heard over 9 kilometers away. Guatemala is a paradise for biodiversity. The Guatemalan coasts and jungles offer an extraordinary spectacle, with the hope that humans continue to protect them.
