Alimentation, le goût amer du gaspillage / Âgisme : les seniors mis hors réseau
Ten years ago, Wallonia introduced a plan to tackle food waste. Yet every year in Belgium, 3.6 million tonnes of food are still thrown away—the equivalent of 114 kilos per second. moreTen years ago, Wallonia introduced a plan to tackle food waste. Yet every year in Belgium, 3.6 million tonnes of food are still thrown away—the equivalent of 114 kilos per second. Food that is often still perfectly edible ends up in the trash in vast quantities, while retailers, industry, and consumers shift the blame between themselves. So‑called “anti‑waste” apps promise solutions, but they remain flawed and fail to address the root of the problem. Investigation traced the entire supply chain to understand the mechanisms of a system that continues to destroy enormous amounts of food every single day.
Ageism: Seniors Pushed Out of the System - An investigation by Jean‑Christophe Adnet and Adrien Lasserre Two million Belgians are over the age of 65. For many of them, everyday life has become a real obstacle course. Closed service counters, digital‑only services, jobs out of reach after fifty—the exclusions are multiplying. Banking, healthcare, public administration: the all‑digital shift is leaving many seniors by the wayside. This reality has a name—ageism. When it affects older people, this widespread form of discrimination raises serious questions about the respect our society shows to an entire segment of its population. Over several months, we collected testimonies, data, and evidence to understand how this system pushes our elders to the margins. An investigation by Quentin Ceuppens

moreAged between 0 and 3, nearly 67,000 children attend a childcare facility each year in Wallonia or Brussels. But the early‑childhood sector is going through a deep crisis. Financial inequalities between facilities, staff shortages, exhausted teams — professionals are denouncing working conditions that risk leading to a form of institutional maltreatment. The inspections carried out by ONE, sometimes considered too strict and sometimes too lax, are also being strongly criticized. Yet, in this difficult context, and while some estimate that 15,000 childcare places are lacking, the government has decided to cut the budget by 74 million euros. These savings are further increasing tensions in an early‑childhood sector already under severe pressure. Crèches, the Diaper Is Full, an investigation by Marie Bourguignon and Charlotte Collin.

moreThe federal government has reformed the rules governing unemployment benefits and labor market integration. Entitlement to benefits is now time‑limited. Between January and July 2026, 194,000 jobseekers will be excluded from the unemployment system and will lose hundreds of euros in monthly income. Over several months, Investigation followed women and men affected by this major cost‑cutting measure. What impact does it have on their lives and their daily reality? What strategies do they put in place to cope? What are their fears, and what are their hopes? This powerful investigation sheds light, in a concrete way, on some of the consequences of the reform for those directly affected, their loved ones, and the institutions that will have to manage the arrival of new audiences at risk of precariousness. lessInjections: Beauty at Any Cost
Filling wrinkles, plumping lips, restoring a smooth forehead — these methods, meant to conceal the passage of time, are becoming increasingly popular. Botox and hyaluronic acid injections have become so commonplace that they have turned into an easy source of money, giving rise to excesses and malpractice.
