Sobriety: New Highs
Feature Docs
Pitch
In Belgium, a country where alcohol is omnipresent, saying “no” remains a counter‑cultural choice. Yet sobriety is becoming increasingly visible: conversations are opening up, alcohol‑free alternatives are multiplying, and a new societal phenomenon is emerging. Laura, Alexandre, Arthur, and Charlotte—four Belgians with different backgrounds—have chosen to live without alcohol. Some have experienced addiction; others never have. Through their stories, daily lives, struggles, and achievements, this documentary explores what it means to be sober today. It speaks of temptation, balance, reconnection with oneself, and other, more conscious forms of intoxication. It also highlights collective initiatives around sobriety. Without moralizing, the film raises awareness of alcohol’s impacts and invites us to rethink our relationship with drinking.
