Bars are fixed to the windows of the diner, and the doors are sealed shut by military personnel. Jack is injured, and Julia along with other customers are trapped inside Mike's Burger. Seven months after these events, Lou returns to work, motivated by the images she found on a phone – Jack and Julia's phone.

On the images from the phone, Lou discovers what happened inside the diner. Tarps unrolled along the windows block the view outside, and to communicate with the outside world, one must now follow instructions. Lou interviews Hugo Blomquist in prison, the designated culprit of the Burkland events.

A doctor in a sealed suit enters the diner to conduct tests on Mike and Jack. Accompanied by Ben, her cameraman, and the two children who found the phone, Lou returns to Burkland.

With Jack restrained and the doctor injured, the diner's customers try to make sense of their future. Lou has managed to enter Burkland, and she begins her report within the abandoned diner.

The diner's customers open the trunk they received. Seven months later, Lou is searching for Ben. She traces him to a cabin in the woods.

Lou questions Peggy at the hospital. Two years earlier, Mike encounters Edward after witnessing something strange at his diner.

In the diner, a voice resonates through a walkie-talkie—it's the voice of the doctor. Lou and Ben search Burkland's archives for anything related to Genetics.

The diner's customers await the return of the militia, but Julia no longer wants to hand over Jack. Lou and Ben try to escape from the archives with the plans of Burkland.

At the Bio Genetics facility, Edward initiates hostilities and releases patients. Seven months later, Lou and Ben arrive at the location, which is still guarded.

Ben is alone in the corridors of the facility. He wanders around, searching for Lou.
